IN LOCKDOWN
WEEKLY PLAY READING SERIES
April -July 2020
As theatre practitioners during lockdown, most of us found ourselves out of jobs, isolated, and with a lot more time on our hands. This Weekly Play reading series sought to bring the theatre community together, virtually, during time of loneliness and separation, amidst the hardships and volatile world outside our doors.
Calling on actors, directors, playwrights, designers, professionals, educators, and students from across the nation (Union & Non-Union), Cats Cradle curated 2 - 3 readings a week. Most of the play selections were focused on social awareness and each reading included a vigorous post-read conversation.
This project was intended to energize theatre practitioners, introduce artists to text with diverse perspectives and narrative, and build and renew relationships across a hurting world.
